Digi Doran hails Teejay
DANCEHALL producer Digi Doran is pleased with the reviews of Teejay’s latest release Make It Out, that made its debut on April 15.
“I am actually quite pleased as the numbers are promising. The song is currently trending; seemingly individuals love it and once it’s enjoyed by many it’s a huge accomplishment for me,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
This song is classic Teejay. It has a very melodic rhythm while the singer showcases his vocals. The song itself is on topic with some of his past hits such as Rags To Riches. In the song, he sings about making it and persevering through the struggles of life,” the producer explained.
The track has received almost 183,000 views on YouTube.
Originally, the artiste was supposed to appear on the June 2021 release Rebellion Riddim which featured other acts such as Gyptian, Jahvillani, Rytikal, Moyann and I Waata. While that arrangement fell through due to logistics, work on Make It Out began around Christmas time last year and has yielded a great result.
“Teejay is one of the most talented artistes in the business. He does it all — engineers, sings, deejays. I think we created a timeless song,” the producer stated, adding, “This song is for the people. The only thing we can hope for is that the people enjoy the music. Once the people enjoy the music, that’s a win for everyone,” the producer whose given name is Jake Doran added.
Digi Doran started in the music business over 10 years ago as a radio DJ in Miami. Throughout the years, with pauses in-between, the producer has been working on his craft to get to a point of putting out great music that can be enjoyed worldwide.
“Lately I have been doing slower melodic beats that currently fit the new wave of dancehall. I call it ‘emo-dancehall’ — very emotional, vulnerable songs that speak to people. Now that the place is open, I want to get back to real dancehall with hard-hitting bass, music you can dance and vibe to, like when dance was nice in the 90s and early 2000s,” the producer stated.
