Recording artiste Hype Type says getting a foot in through the local industry’s doors has been one of the hardest tasks he has been faced with in life.

Still, an undying love for music keeps him going.

Although he has been trying to get his big break since the early 2000s, the entertainer says he is a strong believer in “it’s never too late”, and says he has the perfect song to get him the break he deserves.

“The time is now for Hype Type. I’m promoting a new single called Rasta Mentality and I know it’s going to be a hit,” he told the Jamaica Observer. “It’s the perfect mixture of dancehall and reggae and the people are already loving, it so I’m feeling very good about what the song has in store.”

Sharing how challenging it has been to gain his big break, Hype Type said had it not been for his love of music he would have perhaps given up on the dream of being an entertainer.

“Mi love music. From mi likkle mi a sneak out and a go dance go touch stage. Mi just just love entertain people, but the business has been very hard. I don’t even know how to express it, but it’s a tough business,” he said. “The most challenging part of the business is just to get the foot in the door and to do a good song. To get the rhythms, sit down and really meditate what I’m going to put across the people’s ears that is the biggest challenge for me. Get the rhythm, go in the booth, and come out with something people will enjoy.”

He believes he has now found that track.

“I want to accomplish a lot of things out of music and this song is going to help me do that. Not to mention the fact that I have now set myself up with the right people. I am in touch with some of the movers and shakers in the business, like MC Nuffy, so I think I’m on the right track,” he said.

“I’m putting a lot of things in place and Nuffy is like a magician. I have sat and witness what he has done for other people, so I know if I continue working with him this song will put me where I need to be,” the artiste continued.
