While some critics believe that dancehall music has regressed, emerging recording artiste Javvy1 believes there is some amount of originality in today’s music.

“It’s changed in terms or beats and topics, but I can say give or take, there’s still some originality in today’s music,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Recently, popular producer Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor tweeted that he was tired of discussions surrounding the “state of music” and instead encouraged musicians to do their best.

“I think we should stop having these ‘state of the music’, ‘what music needs’ convos now. So many unwarranted takes and surprisingly most ppl in the business have no clue how it ACTUALLY works. I say, just do what you do confidently…and if it works, everyone will follow. But there’s no point in coming online, complaining, pretending to know all the solutions with no action or RESULTS behind it. Just respect the fact everyone’s figuring it out and keep it moving & stop mek the genre look so confusing…blind a lead blind business,” he said in part.

Meanwhile, Javvy1 says his latest track Money Pree has been doing exceptionally well.

“[The] feedback’s been great so far, it’s definitely one of the fans’ favourite,” he said.

Produced by Chuckstar Production, the track was officially released on July 31.

“This song is basically encouraging youths to go out there and make ends meet however possible. I want them to feel confident that they can achieve anything they put their minds to,” the artiste explained.

With the empowering message behind it, the well-anticipated track is expected to reach great heights, in terms of reach and growth.

“My hope for this song is to capture both local and international dancehall audiences. I believe it has the potential to do so. I’m hoping people, especially the younger youths, will work hard towards their dreams and believe and never give up,” the artiste added.

Two years into his music career, Javvy1 has been involved in music for his entire life. Taking his passion to the big stage, the New York-based artiste creates music across multiple genres, using the art to send positive messages as well as entertain his audience.

“As an artiste, I mostly create new-age dancehall music or trap dancehall mixed with a little reggae here and there,” he continued.

Known for several hard-hitting dancehall singles such as Range, Cruise, What If and Dweet Large, the deejay noted that there are more projects in the works.
