Sizzla to thrill at Yush
RON Burke, director of sales at Dream Entertainment Limited — promoters of Dream Weekend, is in high spirits ahead of the performance of legendary reggae artiste Sizzla at Yush on Saturday, July 31.
Scheduled for Long Bay Beach Park in Negril, Yush, the popular retro-party series which focuses on hits of the 1990s, will also feature Code Red, Coppershot, and Black Chiney sound systems.
“You can expect nothing but musical niceness and classics from Sizzla. We know that Sizzla delivers, we know what he brings, and he’s a performer. He has one of the widest catalogues of songs,” Burke told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash on Thursday.
Sizzla has performed several times on Dream Weekend.
“He’s an international ambassador for reggae and dancehall. He has some of the greatest 1990s dancehall songs in our era, and he’s ideal for Yush as a performer,” said Burke.
“We’ve seen Sizzla on Dream Weekend several times and we thought it prudent to bring him back this year, in light of his catalogue of hits. Every time he’s on Dream Weekend, he delivers,” he continued.
Sizzla, born Miguel Collins in St Mary, grew up in August Town, St Andrew. He made his recording debut in 1995 and released his debut album Burning Up that same year.
He has released close to 60 albums thus far, and the list includes the critically acclaimed Black Woman and Child, Praise Ye Jah, Be I Strong, Da Real Thing, Rise to The Occasion, and the Jon FX-produced I’m Yours.
Sizzla earned a Grammy nomination in 2014 for Best Reggae Album for The Messiah.
His list of hit songs include Black Woman and Child, Good Ways, Pump Har Up, Give it To Dem, Run Out Pon Dem, Take Myself Away, Solid as a Rock, Give Them a Ride, Woman I Need You, Ain’t Gonna See Us Fall, Give Me a Try, Thank You Mama, and Just One of Those Days.
