Skystar’s in control
Canada-based dancehall artiste Skystar is pumped up about the response to Control the Pressure, released recently on the Konsequence Muzik label.
“The response to Control the Pressure has been great and it has been getting a lot of traction in Jamaica so far. This is my first collaboration with Snipawizdom, who brought the heat on this project. I got the rhythm from Konsequence Muzik and asked Snipa to do a verse and the rest was history,” said Skystar, whose real name is Ainsworth Rose.
Skystar, who also uses the moniker The Farrin Badniss Boss, described his music as grimy dancehall with a touch of trap dancehall.
“I’m all about fun and vibrance,” he said.
He was born in Patrick Gardens, Kingston 20, and spent his formative years between that community and another called Mudtown in St Andrew. At nine his house was torched by gang members so he was back and forth between family members.
He developed a love for music during his high school days at Pembroke Hall High School and then Oberlin High. In 2005 he got his real taste of music when he was signed by Mark Francis (Gabash Ent).
He has carved out a reputation for his lyrical stylings in the province of Alberta, Canada, where he now lives. He works closely with the label Farrin Badniss.
“My fanbase in Canada is growing more and more everyday and the audience always sings along when I’m performing. In Alberta I am known as the number one upcoming underground dancehall artiste, representing the label FarrinBadness,” he said.
