Soca Nawmal comes back big with OSOCITY
Soca Nawmal returned for its second staging bringing excitement to dancehall and soca lovers.
The event took place on Carnival Saturday at the National Stadium.
OSOCITY, the popular music producer, American DJ, and YouTube favourite Alex Haniff was the main performer and played a mix of music genres, including electronic, hip hop, and soca. He has a large international fan base that speaks to the power of his music and his connection with the audience. While onstage, he had high-energy interaction with the crowd.
OSOCITY became a sensation during the novel coronavirus pandemic with over 2.3 million subscribers on YouTube, celebrating Caribbean music and culture, and attracting music fans from all over the world.
The show’s stellar line-up also featured other deejays such as Selector Watty from Trinidad; D-Jam from Tobago; and dancehall deejays Coppershot, Firestick and Shukkle Bus with host DJ Scrappy.
Soca Nawmal’s event concept is a fusion of Soca, Afrobeat, and dancehall genres, creating an exciting musical experience that kept patrons on a musical high. With OSOCITY in the line-up, this year’s event delivered on its promise.
The Soca Nawmal’s first staging was held at Sabina Park on South Camp Road on July 9, 2022, which featured performances from the likes of Biggs Don, Marksman, La Lee, Brysco, Trinidadian soca artiste Yung Bredda, Lincoln 3Dot, and newcomer Nenerves.
One patron described it as “an unforgettable party”. “It was a true merging of dancehall interspersed with soca music. And having OSOCITY made it worth it. He really got the party hype,” he continued.
