Teejay, Flow join for a ‘Toppa Tappa’ summer
Dancehall artiste Teejay has been named as the ambassador for Flow’s Toppa Tappa Summer promotion.
LeVaughn Flynn, the company’s public relations manager, said the singer was chosen because of his impact in the music space.
“Whenever we have campaigns we try to find artistes that can help get through to our customers. Of course, dancehall artistes are always very popular… We looked around and we thought he was one of the hottest artistes right now with one of the biggest songs and that’s how we ended up with Teejay and worked with Solid Agency to have him as the face of the campaign,” he told the Jamaica Observer following its launch on Friday.
The song Drift has definitely proved to be one of the most popular this summer.
The official music video has almost five million views on YouTube.
Among his other hits are Owna Lane, Up Top Boss, Henne and Weed, From Rags to Riches, and People.
Teejay, whose real name is Timoy Jones, came to prominence in 2018.
Last month he signed publishing and record deals with Warner Music Group and Warner Records.
He is also among this year’s performers for Reggae Sumfest.
Also present at Friday’s launch was comedian and artiste Deno Crazy, as well as social media influencer Keticia “TC” Chatman.
Meanwhile, Flynn said the summer promotion is aimed at incentivising the company’s valued costumers as they seek to engage them throughout the year.
“It [Toppa Tappa Summer promotion] runs from July 5 to August 31. Essentially, what we’re doing is a prepaid mobile plan to foster our prepaid mobile costumers by providing an incentive and also rewarding them. We’re doing that by providing daily [and] weekly cash prizes,” he said.
