‘Yesterday: The Best of the 90s marks 20 years

OVER the years partygoers and lovers of retro music have consistently enjoyed the offerings at Wray and Nephew’s Yesterday: The Best of the 90s.

This Saturday the event will celebrate its 20th anniversary in fine style at the Mas Camp in St Andrew.

A cadre of disc jocks, including DJ Marvin and DJ Arif Cooper, as well as sound system Bass Odyssey will ensure that patrons don’t miss a step, musically.

Gyete Ghartey, promoter of Yesterday: The Best of the 90s, says the event has grown over the 20 years.

“We have stayed true to the original recipe, which is music from the 90s. We provide great ambience for our patrons, we continue to keep our prices affordable for everyone. This has helped in our growth and keeps our patrons coming back to each event,” said Ghartey.

He said the highlight over the 20 years is seeing the positive impact that the event has had on patrons and members of his staff.

“Yesterday: [The] Best of the 90s brings back memories, and patrons relive their fun times with nuff dancing and merriment. You can’t resist letting loose and soaking up the vibes when you come to our event,” Ghartey declared.

Ghartey said that through research, Yesterday: The Best of the 90s was born.

“We did our research and people told us that they wanted more retro events so that they can have a good time — that’s how we came up with the event — and our first staging in 2002 was at Indies Pub in New Kingston,” he shared.

“On Saturday night patrons can expect non-stop dancing, great music, and a night of celebrations,” Ghartey concluded.
