Preliminary reports from the police are that a truck was travelling easterly from Savanna-la-Mar in the direction of Whitehouse while the motorcycle driven by Palmer was heading in the opposite direction.
Upon reaching a section of the roadway the driver of a Honda motor car— which was travelling in front of the motorcycle— allegedly attempted to overtake the vehicle in front of it.
However, upon seeing the truck approaching it is reported that the driver of the Honda pulled back into the line of traffic which caused the motorcycle travelling closely behind to collide in the rear section of the motorcar.
The motorcycle driver and the pillion fell from the bike and landed in the path of the truck. They were then run over and dragged by the truck, reports said.
Both men died on the scene.
