2026 Nominee For Best (New) Local Product: Wisynco — Legend Lager Beer

    Principal: Wisynco Group Limited

    A history of the company

Wisynco is a household name that is synonymous with Jamaican pride, passion and authenticity. Established in 1965, the company has built a reputation that goes beyond amazing consumer brands and manufacturing excellence to embody national and community development. Over the course of 60 years, the company has firmly established itself as a leader in innovation, continuously advancing its product offerings and pushing the boundaries of the beverage industry, all while supporting charitable efforts, including Food for The Poor, an entity that is near and dear to the company’s heart. Committed to excellence, Wisynco has evolved into a world-class producer of beverages, consistently developing new and exciting flavours that cater to global tastes while staying true to its Jamaican roots. Notably, the company has recently marked a significant milestone with the commission of new alcohol and non-alcohol productions set to reinvigorate the beverage market.

    The range of new products

    Legend Original Lager

    Legend Dark Lager

Legend Flavoured Lager (cranberry, lemon lime, ginger, kola champagne)

    Where the ingredients are sourced

The key ingredients for Legend Jamaican Lager are sourced from Germany and highlights the spirit of collaboration with our global partners. The flavours used in our flavoured beer, come from countries across the Caribbean and Americas.

Where the products are currently being sold

Legend Jamaican Lager is distributed islandwide, across a wide variety of channels including bars, supermarkets and wholesales.

    We made this product because…

There was an opportunity to introduce more variety to consumers by introducing a variety of flavour profiles at an accessible price point. This product was made to re-energise the beer category in Jamaica, through variety and accessibility.

    Our first breakthrough came when…

Legend’s first breakthrough moment came during its inaugural consumer sampling over Heroes’ Weekend, where the response from consumers was overwhelmingly positive. Instead of opting for bottles of liquor, consumers chose to engage with Legend beer throughout the night, highlighting its immediate appeal and drinkability. In a powerful moment of organic adoption, a jerk chicken vendor in Black River independently began using the beer in his cooking, reinforcing early signs of cultural relevance.

The product became available to the public in…

    October 2025

    Our core customers are…

Legend’s core consumers are Jamaican adults seeking a beer that fits both everyday moments and evolving taste preferences. The Original variant resonates with primarily male consumers, while our Dark Lager, the first made locally, has been reaching both male and female consumers.

    The response has been…

The response to Legend Beer has been overwhelmingly positive, with consumers embracing the brand almost immediately as if it were already an established part of the market. Early interactions highlighted strong resonance with its quality and flavour profiles, while on-the-ground activations, such as its debut at Carnival, generated significant traction and engagement beyond initial expectations.

We plan to grow Legend to become…

A locally loved brand into one that not only strengthens its national presence but expands its footprint across the region and onto the global stage, establishing itself as a widely recognised Jamaican beer brand.

    Our major challenge is…

A major challenge is entering a category strongly defined by an iconic Jamaican beer brand, where shifting consumer habits to include Legend in everyday routines and purchases requires time and consistent engagement. We also want to create a cultural shift by encouraging consumption of beer in cans, given global glass constraints.

Jamaicans should support our products because…

We are proudly Jamaican-made and Jamaican-owned. Wisynco is a publicly traded company owned by Jamaican people, deeply rooted in the country’s growth, progress, and success.

Our post-Hurricane Melissa message, having given consideration to the importance of food security, sustainability and supporting our local food ecosystem, is…

Despite the challenges, we remain committed to delivering on our promises, continuing the rollout of our innovations and maintaining supply of our most critical brands to ensure consistency for our customers and consumers. In doing so, we also continued to support the local ecosystem through the creation and sustainment of jobs tied to the launch of our new products. This resilience reflects the strength of our people, our systems, and our shared purpose.
