Legit Boss favoured in Restricted Stakes race
Despite the presence of two cup races, the Henry George Harrison Sr Memorial and the Knutsford Park, the Restricted Stakes for imported three-year-olds and up (non-winners of three) and native-bred three-year-olds and four-year-olds (non-winners of four) is expected to garner the most attention on tomorrow’s (Saturday, July 8, 2023) 10-race card.
The five-and-a-half-furlong (1,100-metre) race has drawn a small but competitive group of six racers who will vie for the majority of the $1.09-million purse money.
The Jamaica Observer‘s The Supreme Racing Guide examines each runner and their prospects of winning.
1. LEGIT BOSS: (3 b f by Casual Trick – Bilingual) – Finished a close second to Inspire Force over this distance in a time of 1:06.2 on June 4. Legit Boss has looked razor sharp at exercise since and based on that strong run, she should be difficult to beat.
2. AWESOME ANTHONY: (3 ch c by Soul Warrior – Antoinette) – Speed merchant who placed fourth over 7 furlongs (1,400m) on June 18. Awesome Anthony is going to love this distance and should cause some anxious moment. Note: Awesome Anthony races with the blinkers on.
3. IS THAT A FACT (USA): (3 b c by Palace Malice – Valid Code) – Importee who has won one of his three starts. Is That A Fact last raced on January 28, finishing sixth behind Sistren Treasure over today’s distance. That race was completed in a time of 1:07.4, with Is That A Fact covering the distance in 1:09.1. Is That A Fact will have to improve significantly from his last effort to get by Legit Boss, but he has worked well for this race and should give a good account of himself.
4. ROYAL ASH: (3 rn f by Fearless Vision – Greek Goddess) – A winner over this distance on May 23. Royal Ash came from behind runners to win by a neck in a time of 1:08.0, which is slower than Legit Boss‘ time. Royal Ash is unlikely to win.
5. VOLATITLY: (3 b f by Hedge Fund – Fashionista) – Capable on her day but is going to be left behind here.
6. REJECTED RAJA: (3 ch c by Soul Warrior – Palace Gold) – Has no chance of winning this one.
