Ackeem Blake
Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake won the men’s 100m final on day two of the 2023 USATF LA Grand Prix at the UCLA Drake Stadium in California on Saturday in a new personal best of 9.89 seconds with an impressive run.
Blake held off the Americans Cravont Charleston who was second in 9.91 seconds, and Christian Coleman, who also recorded 9.91 seconds for third.
The 21-year-old Blake, the youngest in the field, who trains with Yohan Blake, the second-fastest man of all time, powered away from a quality field to upstage his more fancied rivals.
One of Jamaica’s most talented young sprinters, Blake’s previous personal best of 9.93 seconds came at the Jamaica National Trials at the National Stadium on June 24, 2022.
