CLARENDON, Jamaica — Agriculture Minister Pearnel Charles Jr on Friday visited the partly government-owned Clarendon Distillers Limited in Lionel Town, Clarendon and toured the facility.

During the visit to the distillery, the minister observed the operations at the factory including the rum fermentation processes of column distillation and pot still distillation, and the cane farming operations.

Incorporated in 1980, National Rums of Jamaica, is a rum producing and exporting company that is jointly owned by the Government of Jamaica, West Indies Rum Distillery Limited of Barbados, and Demerara Distillers of Guyana.

Clarendon Distillers Limited, which is a part of National Rums of Jamaica Limited’s portfolio, is one of the largest rum distilleries in Jamaica and home to Monymusk Plantation Rum.

The minister in commending the distillery on its production output and investment in the community, indicated that the success of the facility which employs members of his constituency Clarendon South Eastern, also reflects on him.
