Arnett Gardens in three-way tie for second in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Arnett Gardens moved into a three-way tie for second place in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League after edging Dunbeholden FC 1-0 in their second game of a doubleheader played at Stadium East in Kingston on Monday.
The win saw Arnett Gardens improve to 27 points, the same as Portmore United and Cavalier SC, both of which have played one game less.
In Monday’s first game, Molynes United secured their second win of the season, beating Vere United 2-0.
Both games had ended in 0-0 draws in the first round.
*Fabian Reid scored his second goal since returning to the competition after a stint in India, finding the net in the 66th minute as Dunbeholden paid for wasting several scoring chances.
Arnett Gardens’ teenage goalkeeper Asher Hutchinson made several spectacular saves to keep his team in the competition after Dunbeholden threatened to take over the game in the first half.
In the first game, Daniel Hardy scored his third goal of the season in the 49th minute, and Rashawn Livingston added a second in the 57th minute to secure a win that took them to 11 points, four clear of the relegation zone.
