Ashe’s web series, CHILL to return for season two on Monday

KINGSTON, Jamaica — CHILL, the online series by the Ashe performing arts group, which tells the stories of a group of Jamaican millennials navigating the worlds of sex, love, and relationship, will be returning for a second season.

CHILL embarked on a search for their next set of stars in August 2021 after the first season concluded in May. Although it took some two years before the project could herald its return, the team behind the production is assuring viewers that the series will be just as good, if not better than its debut season.

“CHILL season two is not just a continuation of a well-developed story from 2021 but it’s a beautiful production that has grown immensely. We brought in some new story lines and developed on the old ones. It’s going to add to the showcase of millennials addressing issues of sex, identity and class,” said writer and director, Michael Holgate. “What’s empowering about it is that it tells the story of ordinary people going into spaces where they are trying to become empowered people around issues that are very disempowering. It’s not preachy, it’s ‘teachy’ but in a way that will get people to think about themselves and find strategies for issues that have become disempowering for many Jamaicans over a period of time.”

CHILL season two will be having their launch event on Monday, November 27 at the Ashe Company’s headquarters on Cargill Avenue starting at 6:30 pm. The first episode in the series’ next installation will then air at 7:30 pm via Ashe’s YouTube channel.

Ashe’s Ifidel Williams said having prided themselves on ‘edutainment’, the group will be ensuring the latter is a vital part of CHILL’s return.

“Persons can expect edutainment at its finest. CHILL is one of the best locally produced web series. It has a superb script, it’s riveting, it has high-drama and lots of plot twists,” he said. “CHILL is sensitive , comical, original and thought- provoking all at the same time,” said Williams.

Describing the series as “edgy, real and risky,” Ashe’s executive and creative director, Conroy Wilson said the series is a ‘must-watch.’

“CHILL season two bad. Unu affi watch it,” he said.
