‘Brace It’ reaches number 1 on iChart for Top Reggae Songs
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Ishawna and Ed Sheeran’s ‘Brace It’ reached number one for Top Reggae songs on iChart since its debut on Friday.
This is their first single together, which has been highly anticipated since Sheeran revealed in an October 2021 interview that he loves Ishawna’s ‘Equal Rights’ which is a remix to the UK artiste’s hit single ‘Shape of you’.
Since ‘Brace It’ was released it has gained much popularity over 24 hours. Ishawna expressed gratitude for the reception of ‘Brace It’ adding that this collab with Ed Sheeran was not something she ever expected when she released ‘Equal Rights’ four years ago, which she later got clearance from Sheeran for.
“For me, this means so much, not just because it debuted at number one, but because it was made from the soul,” Ishawna said.
“Things like this don’t happen every day, if someone told me four years ago I’d not just get clearance for Equal Rights from Ed Sheeran, I’d call them a liar, but to also have a song with him, I’d tell them No Way!” she added.
Sheeran shared a video of himself after the first of his five shows at Wembley on his Mathematics Tour yesterday, grabbing a beer and sharing his dance moves to ‘Brace It’ and encouraging his fans and followers to “dance like him” to the catchy modern dancehall tune.
The Uk Singer, Grammy Award winner, and the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week has also sold more than 150 million records worldwide, thereby making him one of the world’s best-selling artistes.
Jamaicans are calling for Ed to be given a passport and for a video to this latest international collab between himself and Jamaica’s Miss Legendary.
When asked if a video is forthcoming, Ishawna replied “Good things come to those who wait … Nuh true?”
