Cambridge off to good start in St James FA U-20
ST JAMES, Jamaica— Cambridge United have gotten off to a good start in the St James Football Association Under 20 competition, winning their first two games and leading the points tables with six points.
Cambridge United, who won the competition in 2019, the last time it was held, beat Green Pond High 5-0 in their opening game and then edged Granville United 2-1 on Monday.
Meanwhile, Cornwall College – who were held 0-0 by Spot Valley High in their opening game – got their first win on Tuesday, blanking Green Pond High 4-0 at Cornwall College.
On Monday, Cambridge United rallied from a goal down to beat Granville United who ended the game with 10 players after Lanceford Cunningham was shown the red card in the 77th minute.
Jordan Campbell gave Granville United the lead in the 68th minute but Tajay McIntyre equalised with his second goal of the season in the 78th minute before Marvin Strachan scored the winner in the 79th minute.
At Cornwall College on Tuesday, the home team wasted a handful of scoring chances on their way to beating Green Pond 4-0.
Cornwall College led 3-0 after just 17 minutes with goals from Travis Gordon in the seventh minute, Alexander Cox in the 12th minute and Nickane Brown in the 17th minute but they had to wait until the 73rd minute before Conrad Daley got the fourth goal.
