Chapleton Maroons seek fourth win
HOPEWELL, Hanover— Leaders Chapleton Maroons will go after a fourth straight win as they take on Hopewell United in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Tier Two competition at the Orchard Sports Complex, set to start at 3:30 pm on Wednesday.
Chapleton has run roughshod over the competition so far, scoring 11 goals in their three games played and leading with the maximum nine points, two more than Faulkland FC of St James, with three other teams – Baptist Alliance SC, Portlanders FC and Treasure Beach FC all on six points each.
Treasure Beach FC and Baptist Alliance will meet at the Breds Sports Complex in St Elizabeth today, Faulkland faces Wadada United FC in a St James derby at Jarrett Park and Portlanders FC will play away to winless Downs YS at the Downs Community Centre in Manchester.
Chapleton Maroons will start favourites to beat Hopewell United, who have lost their last two games after opening the season with a 1-0 in over Tru Juice.
Hopewell United have conceded eight goals in their last two games and will face the competition’s top-scoring team led by Kaheem Dixon and Javel Ellis, both of whom have scored four goals each.
Faulkland FC have scored nine goals in their last two games, beating Lime Hall Academy 4-1 on Thursday and Hopewell United 5-1 on Saturday. They take on a young Wadada United aggregation that so far has scored just two goals in their three games.
O’Brien Robinson has picked up where he left off in the 2019-20 Western Confederation season when he led the goal scoring with nine. He has scored three so far, two against Hopewell United on Saturday.
Wadada United might be the best-organised team they will face as the former Premier League champions have conceded just twice in their games, one of them an own goal in their 1-0 loss at Treasure Beach on Saturday.
Treasure Beach are hoping their home luck will hold when they host Baptist Alliance in a crucial game that could see a winner move up in the standings.
Treasure Beach are coming off back-to-back wins after losing at home to Chapleton, while Baptist Alliance has alternated wins with losses but are coming off a big 6-2 thrashing of Downs YC on Saturday and will be full of confidence.
Lascel Alexander and Rohan Brown lead Baptist Alliance with two goals each while Kadeem Stone leads Treasure Beach with three goals.
Tru Juice FC and Albion Mountain will both be going after their second win when they meet at Prison Oval. Falmouth United, who have lost two of their three games played, will take on Lime Hall Academy at the Elleston Wakeland Centre.
