KINGSTON, Jamaica – Clarendon College won their fifth hold on the ISSA Olivier Shield title with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Jamaica College at the National stadium east field on Wednesday, the biggest loss for the Manning Cup team in years.

Clarendon College outplayed Jamaica College and were rewarded with first half goals from Marques Reid and Devonti Hodges while Keheim Dixon added a third late.

It was Clarendon College’s second title of the season after they had earlier won the daCosta Cup and ended Jamaica College’s dream of a third title as the Kingston school had won the Manning Cup as well as the ISSA Champions Cup.

It was the second straight time the Lenworth Hyde-coached Clarendon College were beating Jamaica College in the Olivier Shield as this game was a repeat of the 2019 play-off.

Wednesday’s loss was the first for Jamaica College across all competitions this season and they were outplayed over the 90 minutes by a more urgent Clarendon College team that got off to a fast start and were up 2-0 after 22 minutes.

After missing two early scoring chances, Clarendon College went ahead in the 19th minute when Reid was well placed to be the first to a rebound from Jamaica College’s goalkeeper Rassico Rose and fired it back into the far corner.

Hodges made it 2-0 three minutes later when he volleyed another rebound from the edge of the Jamaica College 18-yard box, beating Rose low to his left goal post.

Jamaica College just missed pulling a shot back in time added on at the end of the first half when Tarick Ximines’ glancing header was well saved by Clarendon College’s Romeo Daniels.

Dixon put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute when he got by a tired looking Jamaica College defense on the left side, dribbled into the area and fired past Rose into the far corner of the goal.
