Clarendon’s Chapleton Maroons win back to back JFF games
HANOVER, Jamaica — Clarendon’s Chapleton Maroons made it two wins from as many games to start the Jamaica Football Federation’s Tier 2 competition, after coming from a goal down to beat Falmouth United 4-2 at Turner’s Playfield on Wednesday.
Chapleton, which beat Treasure Beach FC 3-1 in the season opener last weekend, lead the points tables with six points, two more than Faulkland FC who beat Lime Hall Academy 4-1 on Thursday and Wadada United FC, who were held 1-1 at Downs YC.
Five teams, including Portlanders, Tru Juice FC and Treasure Beach FC, who rebounded from losses on Saturday to win on Wednesday, are on three points.
At Turners Playfield on Wednesday, Kaheim Dixon scored twice for the home team, once in either half, as they continued their free scoring run and broke a 2-2 half time score with two late goals.
Charles Grant gave Falmouth United the lead after five minutes but Christopher Hull equalised for Chapleton in the 10th minute before Dixon gave them the lead in the 39th minute.
The veteran Leon Irvin brought Falmouth United back level in the 39th minute with his second goal of the season. Javel Ellis then restored Chapleton’s lead in the 64th minute and Dixon secured the points with a stoppage time goal.
Faulkland FC scored all five goals in their win over Lime Hall at Drax Hall as Obrian Robinson, Kyle Anderson, Alex Forbes and Giovannie Clarke scored for the St James team who also conceded an own goal.
Wadada United, who had clipped Albion Mountain on Saturday, gave up the lead and held on for a 1-1 draw against Downs YC.
Jason Malcolm gave the former Premier League champions the lead just before the half time break, in the 42nd minute, but Romaine Samuda earned a point for Downs with a goal in the 55th minute.
At the Hopewell Sports Complex, Kadeem Stone scored a first half brace for Treasure Beach in their 4-1 beating of 10 man Hopewell United who had won their first game.
Rohane Brown gave Treasure Beach the lead in the seventh minute before Stone put the game out of the reach of the hosts, with goals in the 29th and 33rd minutes as they led 3-0 at the half time break.
Ricardo Walker pulled one back for Hopewell when he scored in the 75th minute but Shamar Robinson restored the St Elizabeth team’s three goals advantage in the 78th minute.
Hopewell United played the final 23 minutes of the game with 10 players after Shamour Smith was sent off after a reckless tackle on a Treasure Beach player.
Marlon Pennicoke also scored two goals in the final five minutes of the game plus added time as Portlanders FC beat Albion Mountain 4-2 coming from a goal down twice.
Corey Johnson gave Albion Mountain the lead in the 41st minute but Kemar Miller tied up the scores two minutes into time added as they went to the half time break tied at 1-1. Andrew Stewart restored Albion Mountain’s lead in the 50th minute before Jimoy Jones again drew Portlanders level in the 74th minute before Pennicoke scored in the 85th minute to give Portlanders FC the lead, securing the win with a second goal four minutes into time added.
