D Cup champs Clarendon College repeat 5-0 whipping of Lennon High
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Defending champions Clarendon College became the fourth school to win their first five games in the ISSA daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition as they beat Lennon High 5-0 in their return round Zone H game on Friday.
Justin Hayles scored twice for Clarendon College who repeated their 5-0 first round win over Lennon High. Christopher Hull, Kaheim Dixon and Devontie Hodges were also on the scoresheet as CC joined former champions Rusea’s High as well as Cedric Titus and Manchester High as teams to win their first five games.
Another former winner, Dinthill Technical won their third straight game after edging McGrath High 2-1 to take over the lead in Zone J, while there were first losses for Charlemont High and Glenmuir High.
Ewarton High scored their first win as they surprised Charlemont High, which had won their first two games, 1-0.
Glenmuir High’s winning streak ended at four games after they were beaten 2-1 by Old Harbour High. The latter had goals from Ackeem Lewis and Rudolph Smith while Deandre Johnson scored for Glenmuir. It was the first loss this season for Glenmuir and the first win for Old Harbour.
Mile Gully took over the lead in Zone G after beating Bellefield High 2-0, going ahead of the losers on goal-difference, while Knox College snapped a two-game losing skid with a 1-1 draw with Alphansus Davis High to stay in third place.
Black River High drew level on points with Mannings School at the top of Zone D after beating them 1-0 in Savanna-la-Mar. A first half goal from Cleo Clarke carried Garvey Maceo High to a 1-0 win over Foga Road while Edwin Allen beat Claude McKay High 7-0 as Tajay Thomas scored a hat trick and Dyronlee Johnson scored a double.
Devor Wynter scored a hat trick and Daniel Daley and Lashawn Barnaby scored two each as Denbigh High swamped Porus 11-0 in their Zone H game. Thompson Town edged Kellits High 2-1.
