Edwin Allen tops Girl Class 1 4x100m prelims
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Edwin Allen High will head into the finals of the Girls Class 1 4x100m as the fastest qualifier at the 50th staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday.
The Clarendon-based school clocked a time of 45.10 seconds for the fastest qualifying time. They will be joined by Hydel High (45.68), Holmwood Technical High (46.20), St Catherine High (46.29), William Knibb Memorial High (47.49), Wolmer’s Girls High (47.51) and Excelsior High (47.68).
In the class two equivalent of the event, St Jago High clocked a time of 46.25 seconds to lead the field into the final this evening. St Catherine High ran the next best time of 46.99, while Edwin Allen High (47.04), Camperdown High (47.28), Manchester High (47.43), St Mary High (47.59), Holy Childhood High (48.30) and Excelsior High (48.35) rounded out the top eight finalists.
Wolmer’s Girls High recorded a time of 47.02 seconds to top the class 3 qualifiers. They will grace the track against Hydel High (47.12), Edwin Allen High (47.33), Excelsior High (47.41), Vere Technical (47.95), Holmwood Technical (48.00), St Catherine High (48.58) and Mt Alvernia High (48.86).
The top eight qualifiers for the Girls Class 4 4x100m include Mt Alvernia High (48.51), Holmwood, Technical (48.85), St Jago High (49.11), Hydel High (49.34), Edwin Allen (49.43), Wolmer’s Girls High (50.32), Manchester High (50.56) and Excelsior High (50.92).
