Elaine Thompson-Herah runs impressive 10.84 to win in Brussells
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two-time Olympic sprint double champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah continued her return to form as she ran an impressive 10.84 seconds (0.0m/s) to win the women’s 100m at Friday’s Van Damme Memorial Diamond League meet at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium.
Thompson-Herah, who was lowering her season’s best for the third race in succession, showed off her top-end speed as she started slowly but caught the leaders mid-race and blew past them to win.
The time saw Thompson-Herah improve to sixth on the World Athletics rankings for the event.
Natasha Morrison also ran a season’s best 10.95 seconds for second place while Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith, who led for the first half of the race, was third in 10.97 seconds.
Shashalee Forbes, who won a World Championships relay silver medal along with Thompson-Herah and Morrison, finished fifth in 11.17 seconds.
