Five men in custody after firearm seized in Kingston

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Five men, including one who was wanted for murder were arrested and a firearm seized during an operation by members of the Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) on Grenmeade Road in Marverly, Kingston 20 on Saturday.

Reports are that the joint police/military team conducted an intelligence-led operation at the location between 4:00 am and 7:00 am. During a search of the premises a 9-millimetre Glock pistol was found behind a mattress that was along a zinc fence. The men were subsequently taken into custody.

One of the men, whose identity is being withheld at this time, was wanted for murder by the St Andrew South Police. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest for absconding bail.

Members of security forces are appealing to citizens to continue sharing tips on guns, gangs and gunmen by calling the JAGTF tip line at 876-224-4483, the JDF tip line at 876-837-8888 or 876-310-4139, or Crime Stop at 311.

Your identity is not required to provide a tip.
