Harbour View held by Tivoli in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Defending champions Harbour View were held to a 1-1 draw by a struggling Tivoli Gardens in their game played at Arnett Gardens in Wednesday’s latest round of matches in the Jamaica Premier League.

The draw snapped Harbour View’s two-game winning run as they were joined at the top of the points tables by the surging Mt Pleasant FA, who edged Waterhouse 1-0 at Drax Hall in St Ann.

Both teams are on 14 points, two points ahead of Cavalier FC who blanked Faulkland FC 4-0 at Wespow Park in St James while Arnett Gardens fell out of the top four.

Tommy Lawrence had given Tivoli Gardens the lead in the 31st minute but Timar Lewis scored his league-leading sixth goal in time added on at the end of the first half as Harbour View escaped their first loss of the season.

Trivante Stewart’s 73rd-minute goal was enough for Mt Pleasant to extend their winning run to three straight games as they edged Waterhouse, who were losing their third game in their last four starts.

Cavalier FC had the biggest win of the round, blanking the promoted Faulkland FC 4-0 with goals from Dwayne Atkinson in the 12th minute, Ronaldo Webster in the 32nd minute, Collin Anderson in the 72nd and Orlando Russell four minutes into stoppage time at the end of the second half.

Humble Lion moved into the top six, upsetting Arnett Gardens 1-0 with a goal from Andrew Vanzie in the 52nd minute as the Clarendon-based club won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Chapleton Maroons moved out of the relegation zone, edging Molynes United 1-0 with a 78th-minute goal from Jamari Howell.

Montego Bay United were held 0-0 by Vere United at the Wembley Centre of Excellence while Portmore United and Dunbeholden FC were also goalless in their game at stadium east.
