Heights FC and Granville seek wins in Sandals Major League
GREEN POND, St James- Heights FC could retake the lead in Zone A of the St James Football Association/Sandals Resorts International Major League on Sunday when they take on newcomers Green Pond SC at Green Pond High, starting at 3:30 pm.
Heights FC last played almost three weeks ago when they were ambushed 4-0 by Flanker United, ending their two-game winning run to start the competition.
Also today, winless Wadada United FC will host Granville United at the Mt Salem Community Centre, also in Zone A. The competition will take a break after today’s games and will resume on December 28th, the organisers announced on Friday.
A win for Heights FC today would see them go to nine points, one more than leaders Flankers United, who completed their first-round schedule with back-to-back wins after starting with two draws.
Jevar Maxwell had started well for Heights FC, scoring three goals in their first two games and will be hoping to add to his tally today against a Green Pond SC team that has only scored four goals and conceded seven.
A win for Green Pond SC would see them move into second place, a point ahead of Heights FC. Granville United will hope to keep Wadada United without a point after the first round as they also seek to get into the top two in the points standings. Granville United is coming off a big 4-0 win over Green Pond SC and will hope to continue their positive run.
