INDECOM launches probe after cop allegedly kills two at Clarendon party
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe after two men were allegedly shot and killed by a policeman at a party in Frankfield, Clarendon on Saturday morning.
The police have confirmed the shooting and the deceased have been identified as cousins, Jerome Smith and Clayton Pink, both of James Hill in Frankfield.
“The last time I checked the constable had not been arrested in connection with the fatal shootings. I know that INDECOM is still doing investigations into the incident,” Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the police’s Corporate Communications Unit, told OBSERVER ONLINE.
According to police reports, the policeman and the now deceased men were at the Frankfield Town car park at a party when an altercation developed between the policeman and Pink.
It’s alleged that Pink threw a bottle which struck the constable in the face. The policeman reportedly pulled his firearm and shot Pink. Smith, who was in the vicinity, was also hit.
Pink and Smith were pronounced dead at hospital.
