Jamaica reports 56 new COVID-19 cases, one death
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Ministry of Health and Wellness reported that a suspected COVID-19-related death is currently under investigation, while 56 new cases were reported on Sunday, September 25.
The ministry reported one fatality, which pushed the nation’s total number of deaths to 3,311 and the total number of positive cases to 151,706.
The death recorded was an 87-year-old male from Kingston & St Andrew.
Of the newly reported cases, there were 35 females and 21 males, with ages ranging from one month to 81 years.
The cases were recorded in Kingston & St Andrew (18), Westmoreland (nine), St James (seven), Trelawny (six), St Thomas (three), St Elizabeth (three), St Ann (three), Clarendon (two), Hanover (two), Manchester (two) and St Catherine (one).
There were 106 recoveries in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 98,931.
Currently, 56 people are hospitalised, eight of whom are moderately ill, two severely ill and none are in critical condition.
Jamaica’s positivity rate for the latest round of testing is 9.5 per cent, the ministry said.
