KINGSTON, Jamaica —Three Jamaican Under-15 table tennis players secured bronze medals at the Dominican Republic Youth Championship on April 20, following a composed and competitive campaign that reflects steady progress within the national table tennis programme.

Christina Royes, Kira Scott and Taherra Allison finished third behind Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic after a series of matches that showed improved control in key moments, better decision-making under pressure, and a more consistent competitive rhythm throughout the event.

Aubyn Henry, chief development and strategy officer at the Jamaica Table Tennis Association (JTTA), praised the players and what the result represents for their development.

“Allison, Royes, and Scott have shown real progress. This is about them beginning to understand matches better and apply themselves in a more complete way. It’s a strong step forward for all three,” Henry said.

President Ingrid Graham highlighted the value of international exposure.

“This result reflects steady development within our youth programme. The experience gained at this level is important for their continued growth as competitors,” she said.

General Secretary Sean Wallace tied the achievement to the wider national context ahead of World Table Tennis Day on April 23.

“As we approach World Table Tennis Day on April 23rd, this bronze medal in the Dominican Republic reflects the steady progress taking place across the JTTA”, he stated.

Attention now turns to World Table Tennis Day on April 23, with the achievement standing as a reminder of how far dedication and growth can carry Jamaica’s young talent on the regional stage.
