JPS says power restored after outage impacts several parishes
Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) is advising that all customers have been restored with electricity following service disruption across several parishes on Friday morning.
The electricity provider said the outage was due to transient trips on the transmission network which also impacted generating units. Adverse weather conditions were being experienced at the time of the trips, JPS said in a release.
All customers were restored by 11:34am following the system disturbance at 10:14am. The cause of the event is being further investigated, JPS said.
Among the parishes impacted, based on reports reaching Observer Online, were Kingston, St Andrew, Manchester, Clarendon and St James.
