Jamaica’s best day at World Championships – Grange
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Minister of Culture, Gender Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange, says Thursday’s gold medal wins by Antonio Watson in the 400m for men and Danielle Williams in the sprint hurdles for women, marked a spectacular day for Jamaica at the World Championships in Budapest.
In a statement, the sport minister said, “Also contributing to Jamaica’s best day at the meet so far were the silver medal and bronze medal performances by Wayne Pinnock and Tajay Gayle in the long jump along with Rushell Clayton’s bronze medal in the 400m hurdles. Talk about flying the flag high.”

Antonio Watson won in a personal best time of 44.13, while Danielle Williams’ time was a season’s best 12.43. Wayne Pinnock’s jump was 8.50m with Tajay Gayle jumping 8.27m. Rushell Clayton ran a personal best of 52.81.
Minister Grange concluded, “Right now, we are lying third on the medal table with eight medals and I am looking forward to more outstanding performances from our athletes.”
