Jamaica’s Demarai Gray named to Gold Cup’s team of the tournament
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Reggae Boyz winger Demarai Gray has been named among the Concacaf Gold Cup’s best XI.
Gray is the only player from the Caribbean to be named in the team of the tournament announced by Concacaf on Monday.
To mark his 27th birthday and his second game played for the Jamaican side, Gray scored a first-half brace in the Reggae Boyz’ 4-1 win over Trinidad and Tobago in their Zone A game played at City Park in St Louis, Missouri. He also recorded an assist in the opening 1-1 draw against the USA and was the provider once again in the winning goal against Guatemala in the quarterfinals.

The Everton forward ended the competition with two goals, making him the sixth highest scorer, and two assists. Jesús Ferreira of America topped the scoring with seven goals.
The other players to make the Gold Cup’s best XI are Ferreira; Ismael Díaz, Édgar Bárcenas, Adalberto Carrasquilla and Fidel Escobar of Panama; and Orbelín Pineda, Luis Chávez, Johan Vásquez, Jorge Sánchez and Guillermo Ochoa of Mexico.
