Kemar Beckford’s hat-trick leads Frome to Ben Francis KO win
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica— Kemar Beckford’s hat-trick carried former champions Frome Technical to a 4-1 come- from-behind win over first time qualifiers Tacky High in their ISSA Ben Francis KO first round game played at the Llandilo Sports Complex in Westmoreland on Wednesday.
Frome Technical advanced to next Thursday’s quarter-finals along with St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS), Happy Grove High and McGrath High who were also winners.
Tacky High took the lead early in the game but conceded an own goal as Frome Technical drew level before Beckford scored his treble to see his team safely through.
Abeena Wallace scored a first-half goal for STETHS in their 1-0 win over William Knibb Memorial who were losing their first game in the competition in back-to- back seasons.
STETHS, who had also lost their first round game last season, will meet Cornwall College in the quarter-finals.
Shevone Miller scored a double for Happy Grove as they beat Mile Gully High 2-0 in their game played at the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE) in Portland.
Miller scored in the 47th and 90th minutes as they advanced in the competition for the first time.
McGrath High made progress as they beat Port Antonio High 4-3 on penalty kicks after they played out a 0-0 draw.
