Manchester Councillor appeals to motorists to be careful following road repairs
MANCHESTER, Jamaica – People’s National Party Councillor, Mario Mitchell, responsible for the Bellefield Division in Manchester, is imploring motorists to adhere to road safety measures following the repair of the Davyton main road in the parish.
“I am urging motorists to be responsible while using the road to avoid accidents that might affect lives and property,” a statement from the Councillor on Friday read in part.
Statistics from the Manchester police show that the south-central parish has recorded 16 road fatalities resulting from 14 crashes since the start of this year.
Mitchell commended the National Works Agency (NWA) for repairing the main road.
“We welcome the timely intervention of the NWA as sections of the road were in dire need of patching,” he said.
Mitchell urged the NWA to begin the process of patching the Bellefield to Cumberland Road, Virginia Loop in Bombay as well as the road in Williamsfield.
“These roads are also in need of urgent attention as we approach the hurricane season,” he said.
