Massy Distribution awards 16 primary school students back-to-school bursaries
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Sixteen students from St Patrick’s Primary, Balmagie Primary, Mount Alvernia Preparatory, Kensington Primary, Spanish Town Primary, St Catherine Preparatory and Seaview Gardens Primary, were awarded back-to-school bursaries courtesy of Massy Distributions (Jamaica) Limited.
The bursaries were handed out last Friday as part of the company’s community outreach programme.
According to a release on Tuesday, Massy Distribution’s Outreach Programme has been active for more than a decade and serves as an extension of the 14-year partnership the company holds with St Patrick’s Primary and Balmagie Primary schools. The schools were officially ‘adopted’ by the company in 2008 and have received financial and in-kind support for various educational and administrative activities throughout the years.
“This is among my favourite annual events as we get to reward hard work and encourage excellence. I am always so inspired by these children and their positive attitude. The last two and a half years have challenged all of us, especially students. We are so proud of how they’ve all demonstrated a high level of resilience in the face of adversity and continue to do their best in spite of everything,” said Janine Chen, CEO of Massy Distribution (Jamaica) Limited.
“Massy Distribution continues to distribute a wide variety of products that support the well being of children and their families plus equip them for educational success. Noting the rising cost of education, the back-to-school bursary programme takes our goodwill a step further to ease the financial pressure off families, giving them a real opportunity to focus and do well,” Chen added.
