KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica Premier League leaders Mount Pleasant FA snapped a two- game winless run to maintain their lead over second place Cavalier FC as both teams scored emphatic wins on Sunday.

Mount Pleasant FA, who were held scoreless in their last two games, blanked Tivoli Gardens 2-0 at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex and improved to 35 points, while Cavalier trounced Chapelton Maroons 4-1 at Jamaica College.

Both goals at the Edward Seaga Complex came late with Atapharoy Bygrave netting in the 76th minute and Ricardo Morris doubled the lead four minutes later in the 80th as they completed the season sweep over Tivoli who they had beaten 2-0 in the first round.

Colin Anderson scored a hat-trick for Cavalier FC taking his tally in the season to 14 as they thrashed Chapleton who they had beaten 3-0 in the first round.

Anderson scored in the 38th , 68th and 77th minute before the veteran Evan Taylor pulled one back for Chapleton in the 84th minute.

Ronaldo Webster, however, restored Cavalier’s three goals cushion with a goal deep into stoppage time.

Humble Lion stayed in fourth place after they were frustrated by Faulkland FC and held 0-0 in Montego Bay after they had won their first round game 2-0.

Portmore United snapped a four-game winless run with a 2-0 win over Vere United with Alwin Strachan giving Portmore the lead in the 45th minute when he turned one past his own goalkeeper, while Lamar Walker added a second in the 88th minute.

An 89th minute wonder strike from second half substitute Donovan Brown, earned Montego Bay United a 2-2 draw with 10-man Molynes United coming from behind twice.

Molynes played with 10 men from the 29th minute after Jermy Nelson was sent off after picking up his second yellow card in five minutes.

Shamar Dennis had given Molynes the lead in the 23rd minute but the veteran Allan Ottey levelled the scores in the 30th minute when he converted a penalty kick.

Molynes retook the lead in the 36th minute when Jason Wright capitalised on a mistake in the MBU area and punished them.

Brown who came on at the start of the second half produced the highlight of the game when he volleyed a shot from about 25 yards which flew past goalkeeper Peter Harrison at his near left post before the custodian could react.
