Mt Pleasant, Waterhouse register second win in JPL

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Defending champions Mt Pleasant FA won their second straight game of the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League on Sunday, blanking Dunbeholden FC 3-0 at Drax Hall in St Ann.

Mt Pleasant who are yet to concede a goal were joined at the top of the points table by Waterhouse FC who beat promoted Lime Hall 3-1 in the first game of the double header.

Meanwhile, there were first wins for Portmore United and Montego Bay United over Treasure Beach and Cavalier SC respectively.

Oquassa Chong gave the Theodore ‘Tappa’ Whitmore-coached Mt Pleasant FA the lead after just five minutes before Sue-Lae McCalla doubled the score just before halftime in the 42nd minute.

Kimoni Bailey made it 3-0 in the 51st minute.

Andre Fletcher scored a double to lead Waterhouse to back-to-back wins after they lost their opening game, netting in the 28th and 51st minutes, after Javane Bryan had given them the lead in the 15th minute.

Earon Elliot scored Lime Hall Academy’s first ever Premier League goal when he converted a penalty kick in the 48th minute to make the score 2-1 at the halftime.

Portmore, who were beaten by Mt Pleasant in their opening game, kept promoted Treasure Beach winless as they won 3-1 thanks to a double from Alex Marshall who had missed their opening game.

Marshall scored in the 10th and 22nd minutes before Chevaughn Walsh made it 3-0 in time added at the end of the first half.

Romario Brown wrote his name in the history books when he scored Treasure Beach’s first Premier League goal in the 47th minute.

Montego Bay United finally found success as they ambushed Cavalier SC 1-0 with wingback Lucas Lima Correa heading home a corner in the 67th minute.

In the other game played on Sunday, Humble Lion and Molynes United played out a 1-1 draw, Karim Bryan gave Humble Lion the lead in the 16th minute before Jason Wright salvaged a point for Molynes United when he scored in the 38th minute.
