‘No Worries’ between Spice and D’Angel – dancehall stars end feud after 4 years
It appears there are ‘no worries’ any more between Spice and D’Angel, the dancehall veterans having apparently ended their feud at the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA) on Sunday.
‘No Worries’ was the song that brought the female dancehall stars together on the same track in 2017, but, two years after its release, that same collaboration ended up causing a lot of ‘worries’ for the two female artistes.
In fact, at one point, the song was only being performed by D’Angel as Spice refused to have anything to do with the track.
Fast-forward four years, however, and the song has once again become a source of unity as both artistes were seen performing the track together in what seems to be a ‘mending of the fences’. In videos now circulating on social media, both entertainers can be seen, smiles plastered across their faces, as they performed the track together for the first time since 2019 at the IRAWMA.
D’Angel, who posted one of the videos to her page, said touching the stage and performing ‘No Worries’ with her fellow dancehall artiste “felt like when we just recorded” and declared “God a work.” She ended the caption under the post with the hashtags; #strongertogether and #historicmoment.
Entertainers and fans alike have since heaped praises on the two women dubbing their ‘burying of the hatchet’ as grown and mature. Recording artiste Pamputtae who remained friends with both D’Angel and Spice following their feud, said she is happy she didn’t allow people to encourage her to ‘pick sides’.
“Dis mi a talk bout unity mi happy mi Neva pick no side a peace and love mi show uno all wen the ppl dem a try mix mi up,” the entertainer said.
Artistes I Octane and Razor B also commented on the video, both supporting the ladies’ decision to end their feud.
“Love fi see the sistas dem inna di biz sharing the same stage and vibing together in harmony. The biz need more collabs and energy like this,” user tha lyricist posted on IG.
“Watching this it gave me goosebumps, I’m so glad these ladies put their differences aside and start working back together. I love it because I love them both,” another user, sue_riich posted.
When the two were at loggerheads back in 2019, both ladies accused the other of begging for the collaboration. Spice in an Instagram live session at the time, said “Angel is a girl weh call down mi phone. Angel used to call down mi phone day in day night – mi couldn’t sleep ah mi yaad” before stating that prior to the collaboration “nuttin did ah gwaan fi Angel.”
Having caught wind of the things said by Spice, D’Angel clapped back saying it was Spice who approached her for a collaboration and she only agreed to show off a united front.
“Yuh keep telling me sister say yuh wa do a song wid me, me say me never ready fi do nuh song wid yuh yet. When me see di upsurge of tear dung wid females artistes inna di business, me say a time now … and dem label you as the one weh don’t collaborate wid woman and don’t give woman strength, me say now is the time,” D’Angel said at the time.
She went on to thank Spice for the collaboration but made it clear that after putting in equal effort into the song’s success, she owed Spice nothing.
“We link up and we go inna di studio … wid love, me and her and the song become a number one all over the world and inna di people dem heart. Me promote the song wid all me heart, run wid di song outta breath, everything me can wid di song fi di song reach weh it deh. Me thank yuh fi di collaboration, but lady me nu owe yuh nothing.”
