INDECOM probes ‘accidental’ shooting of trainee cop
ST THOMAS, Jamaica — The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and The Police High Command are probing the reported accidental shooting of a trainee constable on Saturday.
The incident took place while at a training exercise in Yallahs, St Thomas.
Reports are that at about 1:30 pm, the constable was shot by another trainee who was attempting to clean his Glock pistol.
The firearm allegedly went off, resulting in the constable being shot in the back.
The injured trainee, attached to the National Police College, was rushed to the hospital where he is being treated. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
