Off-duty cop apprehends man, seized firearm
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The swift action of an off-duty policeman led to the apprehension of a man and the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition during an attempted robbery on Olympic Way in Kingston 11 on Thursday.
Charged with possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, shooting with intent, assault with intent to rob is 34-year-old Dave Clarke, labourer of Big Lane, Central Village, St Catherine.
Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 11:53 am, two armed men attempted to rob a business establishment. An off- duty policeman saw what was happening and engaged the men.
One man was apprehended and a Lorcin 9-millimetre pistol, with a magazine containing seven 9-millimetre rounds was seized.
Clarke was taken into custody and subsequently charged.
His court date is being finalised.
