One dead in Hanover crash
HANOVER, Jamaica – One man is dead and at least three people hospitalised following a two-vehicle collision in Hanover on Saturday afternoon.
The crash reportedly occurred on the Esher main road in the vicinity of the Esther Primary School’s entrance.
The deceased man has been identified as 26-year-old Roshane Reid of a Lances Bay address in the parish.
Reports are that shortly before 5:00 pm, a blue Mitsubishi motor car driven by Reid with three occupants—a woman and two children— was travelling from the direction of Lucea towards Green Island, when the vehicle collided with a Toyota Hiace bus travelling in the opposite direction.
The occupants of the car were taken to hospital where Reid was pronounced dead.
Details surrounding the occupants of the bus are unclear at this time.
Reid’s aunt, Juliette Jarrett, told OBSERVER ONLINE that her nephew’s death comes less than a month after the burial of another relative.
“Mi si him [Reid] ah funeral and he did suh happy an everything. Dis one lick lakka tornado. It ruff man…ah young yute an mi ah tell yuh mi nephew nice,” expressed Jarrett.
The Lucea police are investigating.
