Portmore United’s Shackeone Satchwell departs for Austria
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Attacking midfield player, Shackeone Satchwell, is scheduled to depart for Sportklub Sturm Graz Football Club in Austria on Sunday.
Sporklub Sturm Graz is an Austrian Association football club, playing in the Austrian Football Bundesliga.
Satchwell had an exceptional season in the recent Manning Cup competition with St Andrew Technical High School and contributed significantly to his school finishing second to Jamaica College, according to a statement on Saturday.
“Satchwell is an exciting talent. He has also impressed in the Jamaica Premier League and Lynk Cup Knock Out competitions with Portmore United Football Club in the current season. He will spend four to six weeks at Sturm Graz training with the first team as part of his continued development,” the statement read.
At the same time, Philip Williams, head coach at Portmore United FC and St. Andrew Technical High commented that, “This is an important step in the professional journey for Satchwell. He’s a young man from very humble beginnings and this opportunity should enhance his growth and prepare him for a successful career in football. Both the club and school are pleased with the latest development and are confident he will mature into a fine talent”.
Satchwell is represented by football agent Kevin Cowan, who also represents several Jamaican players including national player Shamar Nicholson who currently plays in the Russian Premier League for Spartak Moscow.
Cowan was responsible for securing the training development opportunity for the player.
