ST JAMES, Jamaica -Organisers of Reggae Sumfest is set to join forces with JAM-DEX, Hospiten, the Social Development Commission (SDC) and the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI) to stage a new, family focused event, the Family Fun Day/Community Funfest at the Catherine Hall Stadium on Sunday, July 16.

This marks the second anniversary of the event. The first, which took place at Pier 1 car park last July, was said to have been well supported by the community.

Joe Bogdanovich, CEO and chairman of Downsound Entertainment, organisers of the Reggae Sumfest, noted that the new event was an important addition to the festival.

“In 2022, with the return of the festival after COVID-19, we felt it was the right time to introduce an event which would lift the spirits of the community, and which would target the entire family,”Bogdanovich stated.

“The response from the community demonstrated the need for this type of event. We anticipate a much bigger attendance this year.”

The 2023 Family Fun Day and Community Fest will feature rides, games, a reading corner, face painting, a host of fun activities for the children. Action on stage will see finalists of the SDC’s Community Star competition vying for the top prize.

Chevaughne Miller, commercial director of Hospiten, second-time sponsor of the event, declared that “Hospiten is elated to, again, partner with Reggae Sumfest in the execution for the Community Fest”.

“Our objective is to provide complimentary services that will benefit Montego Bay and surrounding communities as we strive to achieve balance in the health and wellness of both children and adults. Visitors to the Community Fest will be able to avail themselves of medical consultations with a general practitioner as well as specialists, including a cardiologist, dentist, and internist among others,” Miller said.

Parents are advised to take the medical forms provided by the school and the child’s vaccination card to facilitate the back-to-school medical programme.
