Track and field

Jamaica’s Sean Bailey ran a perfectly-timed race to go by Grenada’s Kirami James en route to winning the men’s 400 metres on day two of the 2023 USATF LA Grand Prix at the UCLA Drake Stadium in California on Saturday.

Bailey, the brother of Olympian Veronica Campbell-Brown, won in 44.43 seconds, James was second in 44.50 with third going to Quincy Hall of the United States in 45.09.

James, the Olympic and World Championships gold medallist over the distance, led from early with a blistering pace but was reeled in over the last 15 metres by Bailey who finished strongly.
