Sean Kingston’s Beautiful Girls certified platinum in Germany
Beautiful Girls, a 2007 hit single by reggae-influenced singer Sean Kingston, has now been certified platinum in Germany.
The certification was revealed on Monday in a monthly report issued by Bundesverband Musikindustrie (BVMI) or Federal Music Industry Association.
Beautiful Girls has been certified for sales exceeding streaming and sales equivalent in 300,000 units. The song is the debut single for Kingston, whose parents are Jamaicans. He is also the grandson of the late St Ann-based producer Jack Ruby.
The song catapulted Kingston to global attention. It peaked at number one in the United States, the United Kingdom, Scotland, New Zealand, Ireland, Hungary, Australia and Canada.
Co-written by Kingston, Beautiful Girls was produced by JR Rotem and Peter Harrison.
The song’s official video crossed the 1 billion views mark on YouTube last September.
Beautiful Girls was previously certified platinum in Australia, Denmark, New Zealand and Spain, while in the United States, the United Kingdom and in Canada, it has been certified double platinum.
