St Andrew man charged with shooting two people
ST ANDREW, Jamaica – Forty-one-year-old Kurtis Mitchell otherwise called ‘Deesy’, a mason of Carlos Path in Kingston 11 has been arrested for allegedly shooting two people along Dilpath Crescent in the parish on Wednesday, July 6.
Mitchell has been charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Reports from the Olympic Gardens police are that about 6:00 pm, Mitchell and another man went to the mentioned location where they opened gunfire on two persons injuring them. A member of the Jamaica Defence Force who was in the vicinity on mobile patrol saw what was happening and was challenged in a gun battle by Mitchell and the other man.
After the shooting subsided it was discovered that Mitchell and the other man received gunshot wounds and were transported to hospital where the other man died and Mitchell was treated.
Mitchell was subsequently charged based on statements that were given to the police.
His court date is being finalised.
