KINGSTON, Jamaica – ‘The greatest one-night show on Earth,’ Sting is set to make its grand return to Jamworld in Portmore, St Catherine come December 26. Having heralded a huge comeback to the live entertainment scene last year, the Isiah Laing led team says this year’s Sting promises to bring patrons back to the show’s glory days.

“Sting is back in our home at Jamworld this year so come Boxing Day, all roads will lead to Portmore for sure,” said Laing. “This year, we want to take our patrons back to some of the best times in music with some of Jamaica’s best artistes, real giants in the business. This year the theme is ‘‘10 Giants of Dancehall’ and we’ll be having the likes of Spragga Benz, Capleton, Anthony B, Tanya Stephens and more. Our aim is authentic, ‘feel-good’ entertainment and the lineup we have will give you just that.”

Indicating that although two possible clashes are brewing, as is customary with the Sting format, Laing said if the battles do not materialise come December 26, the entertainment value of the show will still be just as good.

“The regular clashes are brewing but dem affi make an impact for me to add it to the lineup. People have to be interested in the clash before I give the go ahead,” he said. “But it nah go hurt the show if we don’t have any clashes, especially with the lineup we have this year. People are already looking forward to so many of the artistes, we are already debating who is gonna take the show. They’re asking if Spragga will take the show, if Tanya will take the show, Capleton, Anthony B. We have a good set of artistes.”

“We might be going single file this year but we won’t be short on anything with the ten giants we have,” he continued.

Tickets for the event go on sale this weekend as the official launch of Sting takes place at the Balcony Lounge Jamaica, formerly known as Triple Century at 7 pm Tuesday.

Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange and Dr Dennis Howard as well as a host of artistes are expected to be among the guests at the launch.

According to Laing, anticipation for the event is steadily building as people are genuinely happy to see Sting return to the Christmas entertainment calendar.

“People love the show and they’re happy we’re back so we want to give them an experience they won’t forget this Boxing Day. We’re looking forward to delivering the kind of entertainment Jamaicans love and will be talking about for the rest of the year.”
