Trelawny FA competition returns after 3-year break
TRELAWNY, Jamaica— Club football returns to Trelawny for the first time in three years as the Trelawny Football Association knock-out competition kicks off with two games.
Holland United will take on Salt Marsh United at William Knibb Memorial, and Spicy Hill will face Duncans United at Silver Sands Road Play Field. Both games are set for Thursday at 3:00 pm.
The winner of the knock-out will go on to play in the Western Zone Tier 11 playoff, the organisers had said earlier.
Ten teams are down to participate in the competition that has been sponsored to the tune of $375,000 which will cover prize money, referees’ fees, as well as sectional prizes.
Two more games are set to be played on Saturday and Sunday. The winners of today’s games will face Falmouth United and Duanvale FC on Sunday, to decide the semi-finalists.
The semi-finals are set for Saturday, January 21 and the finals a week later.
The teams taking part are- Falmouth United FC, Harmony FC, Coopers Pen FC, Duanvale FC, Jackson Town FC, Kinloss FC, Holland United, Salt Marsh United FC and Duncans United FC.
The competition is sponsored by the Trelawny Northern member of parliament, Tova Hamilton.
