Trelawny farmer charged after gun found in knapsack
TRELAWNY, Jamaica – A farmer has been charged after a revolver and several rounds of ammunition were found in his bag in Jackson Town, Trelawny on Tuesday.
Charged with unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition is 28-year-old Oniel Dyer of Albert Town in the parish.
Reports from the Stewart Town police are that about 2:00 pm, a team was conducting a vehicular checkpoint operation when a Toyota Stepwagon, in which Dyer was a passenger, was signalled to stop.
The driver complied and a search was conducted. One .357 Magnum revolver with six rounds of ammunition was found inside a knapsack belonging to Dyer.
He was consequently arrested and charged.
