Westmoreland man arrested for illegal gun, ammo
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – A man has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition after he was accosted by the police along the Whithorn main road in Westmoreland on Tuesday afternoon.
Charged is 26-year-old Jovane Warren, otherwise called ‘Brogad’ of Morass District Whithorn in the parish.
Reports are that the police were on Mobile patrol duties in the Whithorn area when they received information that men with guns were seen travelling on a purple motorcycle in Gold Smith Lane.
The law men proceeded to the location where they observed two men traveling on a motorcycle with no registration plate affixed.
Upon seeing the police, the men, who were approaching from the opposite direction, reportedly attempted to turn the motorcycle but the rider lost control which resulted in both the rider and the pillion falling to the ground.
